Noob at detail. New again red?
Hey gents!
My name is Preston and I have recently been looking around to see if there is any way to get my paint looking new again. I have an 01 new form red s2000 and, I know this is a popular problem, but reasons mirrors and rear deck lid are pretty faded. I currently don't have any close ups but I'm sure most of you know what I am talking about. I know I can buff this paint but I didnt know if there was anything else I can do that would take a little less time. Also if buffing is the only way, where do I start? Any recommendations on products (as I have no equipment either) and I can't seem to find a good DIY on this. Also please save the rude comments. Like the post says, I'm a noob at detail and stuff. I just do the average wax and was and the once a year nu finish. Not much besides that. If anyone can help I would very much appreciate it. I will post pics soon if needed. Thanks!

Its possible the clear coat is just oxidized and some liquid type rubbing compound would fix it, but more than likly the red pigment in the base coat is faded. From my experience, there is no real fix for this other than a repaint. You could sand through the clear coat and sand away the top layer of the base coat to reach paint that hasn't been bleached by the sun, but then you would have very thin base coat and no clear. My San Marino Red BB6 Prelude has the same issue on all the surfaces that face the sky. Red just fades like that.
