ap1v2 rear sway bar swap- am i nuts?
hi all, I have a 2003 s2000 parts car sitting in my garage. im considering putting the rear sway bar on my 04 ap2 to neutralize the handling some. my current suspension/tire setup is:
surgeon spec kwv3's with 503lb springs and extended top hats
energy suspension bushings
megan rear toe arms
whiteline front sway bar
02 nsx wheels(7 front 9 rear)
215/45 dunlop ss front
255/40 dunlop ss back
ive been talk with several companies about widening my front wheels to 9 so i can go 255 square(ideal tire setup with non ideal wheels i know) but instead of risking my life with a widened wheel setup, or making it look like shit(imo for me, your s looks amazing btw) with aftermarket wheels- im wondering if the ap1 rear bar will bring my back end to life.
my current complaint is that the rear end grips grips grips, and the front end loses command of direction- id like slightly less understeer(only becomes apparent at speeds i shouldnt be driving anyways).
so, is the ap1v2 rear bar over kill? will i create an oversteering monstrosity? has anyone ran a similar setup? opinions welcome, but the nsx wheels are staying so lets not beat a dead horse about how they arent 17x9 ce28's or rpf1's

Stock '04 AP2 sway bars + tire stagger + revised rear geometry + rear-biased spring (262F/278R) = almost neutral with slight understeer. Your 503lb springs alone, all else equal, are already adding understeer to that. Then the front Whiteline bar does even more.
So I would change the front Whiteline bar back to stock. Don't add a rear bar - it reduces traction in the rear.
Then go test it at autocross and tell us. No other place is safer than that.

Either going softer on the front bar or going stiffer on the rear bar will change the front/rear roll stiffness distribution and add grip up front at the expense of grip in back. The difference is that adding a stiffer rear bar will act to further reduce roll, while going softer on the front will increase roll.

update: swapped the rear bar last night since someone needed an ap2 rear bar.
the 0 angle slide is back(dunno a more technical term for it) and im happier than a pig in shit

Good glad your happy with results, personally I would have sold the white line front bar and put back to stock and left rear alone, or alternately add more tire up front. Nothing wrong with your approach though since its delivered for you. That year is stiffer then the ap2, with the 00-01 being even stiffer in the rear then the 02-03.

Seriously though, ive got the front and rear done and they have treated me very well over the years, they have taken quite a pounding on the road and track. Take them to a reputable company that knows what they are doing with the wheels in question and you shouldn't ever have a problem. The welds are probably stronger then many of the wheels the operation is performed on. Some wheels are shit quality and they shouldn't be touched. The company performing the operation should be able to advise you. Your success builds thier reputation and business.
