the change is linear since they are linear springs.
you're just moving the spring up by adding preload.
so you shorten the bracket to compensate 1:1.

Not sure when you bought your kit but if you go with Ohlins recommended preload, make sure you follow the up to date instructions for the HOSMI20. You can download it here. Note, that this is for the 10k/8k spring rate (not the updated 11k/7k setup 
). Basically it recommends a 9mm preload (vs 2mm for the OLD instructions - don't use this number!).

I will start with Ohlins recommended settings: lenght and preload (2mm front, 9mm rear).
I still don't understand why we could not drop the car more than 1" with standard preload. In the settings instructions (link you gave me), ohlins says:
"With both the preload and height adjustments in their standard positions, the vehicle is lowered approximately 25 mm when compared to the original suspension. The adjustment range is the standard
position±15 mm. "
That means we can adjust the drop from -10mm to -40mm compared to oem, right?
