Projectmu HC+800 brake pads coming apart
I've had these pads installed along with new rotors and bedded-in a year ago. Since then, it's been mostly street driven with the exception of one track day, probably put a total of 5000km (~3100mi).
As my car was being prepped for its second track day on these pads (two months ago), the mechanic noticed the one rear brake pad wasn't sitting right. I had a closer look only to find out the compound had separated completely from the metal backing. This meant the compound had slipped down far enough to be resting on the rotor hat, scoring it in the process.
Here comes the most frustrating part. I've tried contacting both Project Mu and Mackin Industries with no luck. I eventually got in contact with the vendor which I made the purchase from, actually a S2ki vendor on here. We'd exchanged numerous emails and they were in contact with Project Mu apparently. However, they've been pretty spotty on the replies, often would need to send two/three messages just to get a response. Also kept getting the runaround that they were waiting on Pmu's decision. It's been over a month and a half since my first message to them and we're still no closer to a solution.
Needless to say, I'm not too thrilled with the vendor or Projectmu's customer service.
I'd like to hear others' experience with these pads, is this a common issue with them?

I've had similar experiences with PMU Club Racers TWICE:
- On the first occurrence, I had a rear delaminate on track whilst still having ~5 mm of meat on them (rear rotors are vented with brake ducts and dust shield have been cut off)
- Most recently recently I had a rear pad start to crumble on my 5th track session (not day); see attached picture below with almost a 10 mm of meat on them........ and very little to no "charring" or evidence of excessive heat build up
- The 1st time I thought it might be a freak occurrence, but after the second issue with the pads, I'll never use another PMU pad again.
- I wonder if PMU changed something because two years ago when I ran an STi, I never had this problem with club racers.

Same exact thing just happened to a friends brz pad. Hfc800s. After a track day the front left caliper pads basically fell off the backing plate. It looks as if there is no bonding agent or what they did use basically vaporized. Pads were warrantied and they sent him a set of Club racers. Customer service seemed good to me

Wow, that sucks! I have HC800's on my car right now. Seems fine though, but I'll have to take a closer look next time I have the car in the air.
