Default Rear unstable/wobbling?

Hi guys, Just bought myself a 2002 S2000. All is mostly good, just one problem.

Basically at speed over 60mph the rear just does not feel stable, like it's wobbling around.

If feels like, when applying power, the car wants to go to the left, then when going off the power it's going to the right.

Does anyone have any ideas, what could be causing this?

Cheers,
Matt

How old are the tires, have you checked air pressure? What about alignment, these cars are very sensitive to suspension angle. Other than that these cars will drop throttle oversteer, it's something that you have to master.

When you are driving straight, if the car pulls in one direction on the throttle and the other direction off the throttle, the most likely thing is that you either have tire pressure differences in the rear tires, or the rear tires are slightly different diameters (like worn differently or slightly off-size from the tire factory).

Cheers, I will check the tyre pressures, I know the car had been stood around for a while, and then get a full geometry check.

But wondered if it could be anything more serious?

Cheers, will check it out.

One other thing, the previous owner has fitted some aftermarket 18" alloys with rubber band tyres!

Could the difference in rolling radius have put the geometry out enough to cause this?
