Default s2000 Alignment Trouble with camber

Car is a bone stock 04 S2k. Only modification is a karcepts front sway bar.

I went to have the car aligned and on the front the shop could get the car to around -2.4 degrees before adjusting the toe/caster but could only hit -.75 on one side and about -1.0 on the other side after getting the toe to 0. The car has never been in an accident and nothing appears bent. Caster was in the 6 deg range.

I was looking for maximum negative camber as the car will primarily be used for autox in street class. I saw other members getting just under -2.0 degrees camber with stock suspension and was disappointed with the results. Both the shop and myself are a bit perplexed.

Can anyone think of what might be wrong or what to check? Is there a certain order of steps they may be doing wrong? They were adjusting in the order the hunter machine instructed.

Adding non-OEM parts to adjust camber is likely not an option as they wont be legal in street class.

Many thanks.

Origin upper control arm offset bushings bring the upper arms inward 7mm. I think it gives something like 1.25 degrees of cambers. Dunno what exactly your class rules are but they are NASA legal.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, anything that is not factory installed that would change suspension geometry is not permitted in my class.

I guess I'm wondering:
1. Is the shop possibly doing the wrong thing to align the car?
2. Could something else be wrong that they can check that would cause this situation?
3. What numbers is the stock suspension even capable of in the first place (am I crazy)?

Your subframe may have shifted to one side.

Try loosening the bolts and re centering via the service manual.

Consider spoon subframe collars to keep things in place.

Resist the urge or suggestion to "tighten them suckers down". Use the factory torque spec...add maybe a few LB's if you must.

Turns out the bushings/bolts on the other side of the control arms were stuck from having not been adjusted in a long time. Once they were freed up, all was well.
