Would you guys consider the HKS Hipermax IV GT coilovers an upgrade over the Koni / Swift SpecR set up? The spring rates are so similar, but not sure about the dampening comparisons. Car is a weekend fun car with the occasional track sessions.

With HKS having one of the best shocks on the market for coilovers I would say so. The reviews we have gotten on these coilovers is amazing. They give a very comfortable ride along with being very compliant in the corners. Oh and the obvious height and damping adjustment is there as well.

Would the Max IV SP's be way overkill and too stiff?

I'm looking for something a little stiffer than my swift spec R's. Can't decide if GT or SP would be the way to go.

If you are looking for something a little stiffer I would go with the GTs. Spring rates are 8k Front | 7k Rear. Compared to the 7.5k Front and 7k Rear Spec Rs. But with the HKS shocks they will ride stiffer for sure. The SPs are a bit overkill at 16k Spring rates all around.
