Mice Living In My Temple of VTEC
I rencently moved to a wooded area and keep the car in a garage but it gets driven three to four times per week even in the winter. I have been there for five months and this is the first time I have found mouse poop/seed debris on the top of the head. Below I will list the steps I have taken but if any of you have had this problem and can suggest additional solutions I would welcome them.
1. Removed any and all potential food sources from the garage and cleaned it and the car.
2. Propped hood open and laid a towel across engine bay on top of which is two wedges of that nasty posion that makes them go outside to seek water and die.
3. Old school snap neck traps with peanut butter at all four corners of vehicle. (caught one already this morning!)
Additonal things I am considering:
1. Leaving an old FM radio on in the garage hoping maybe noise will keep them away.
2. Greasing a bucket filling it up halway with water and then putting some rice in it. (Old farmers trick my uncle told me about).
3. Hanging dead mice with little pirate hats on in front of the garage as a warning to other mice. jk on this one
Thanks,
Kieran

I've found that the old school snap traps work better than most other methods. Never liked using poison because sometimes dying mice/rats crawl places you really don't want them to--the smell can be awful!
The best way to get rid of them permanently is finding where they get into your garage. I used to have a problem with roof rats in the winter, trapped tons of them but they kept coming until their access holes were found and plugged.

I had this problem before. Dryer sheets icon reign the entrance to the airbox was one thing that helped. I used that blue/green mice pellet seeds but that didn't work. I know this because I found some of it in my airbox. I used dryer sheets to stop that and it seemed to help.
The plug in thingies that are supposed to keep rodents out didnt work for me. The best thing. Old school traps. Good luck.

Thanks everybody those are all good suggestions. I wish I could get a cat but my housemate is allergic. I added additonal old school traps and over the past two days have caught 3 more mice. I no longer think they are getting on or in the CR as I have found no more nesting evidence in the engine bay. I am gonna keep maintaining traps for the foreseable future.

I have given up trying to keep the mice out of my detached garage. Instead I made an opening so the neighborhood cats can jump in. In addition, I have 15 assorted traps scattered in the garage. So far this season apart from a few cat paw prints I have only trapped one mouse.
