Default 1 Interior light staying on dim.

Weird one on my S2000, one bulb in the Interior light is not fully turning off if the switch is in the doors function and the doors are closed. Its lit but just dim.

If the switch is turned off, both bulbs are off, if the switch is on, both bulbs are on. Putting it on the doors open setting and pressing either of the door jamb switches turns the lights off but the same side just dims.

I've tried swapping the bulbs over and it makes no difference, the bulb in that side stays on. I've took off, cleaned and swapped the door jamb switches and again no difference, The same bulb remains on dimly.

They ae replacement LED bulbs that have been in for years no problems and this is a new development.

I've took the interior light off and cleaned the contacts, with the light connect but off the car, the bulb is off but as soon as its back on the car, the bulb is on dimly.

Has anybody got any ideas on it?

Do you have any dent or damage on the door side, where it contacts the switch?

My car has Exact. Same. Issue.

LED bulbs been in for years, suddenly this happens. Been doing my best to ignore it.

Total weirdness.

'06 ap2.

Power has to be getting to the bulb somehow.

One thing I thought of, maybe its not as uncommon as we think, and on some cars with incandescent bulbs same thing is happening, but no one notices because maybe bulb doesn't glow with so little power.

This is a common issue among lots of new-ish vehicles that came furnished with incandescent bulbs originally. LEDs are stupid efficient, and can operate welllllllllllll below their power ratings. A majority of these circuits have a tiny amount of residual bleed as they were designed & spec'd for incandescent bulbs only. This won't cause a problem or drain your battery, but it will annoy you.

2 options: Replace with halogen style -OR- invest in some higher quality LED festoons. Without you telling me, I can imagine these are some cheaper LED bulbs of the eBay variety? I personally don't have this issue, but I've also made it a point to run name-brand bulbs such as Philips, Sylvania, Morimoto. My car is all Philips LEDs nose to tail, haven't had a single issue with any of them, and they've been in for several years.
