Will not start and not clutch switch
My 2002 S2000 will not start. I have a new battery and I jumpered the clutch switch and still no start. Everything electric I try works - fan, radio, lights. I do get an electric hum when I press and hold the start button. That sound stops when I release the start button. I have not tried banging the starter but the car started fine a couple months ago and it has been sitting. Any thoughts before I start tearing the electrical apart would be great.
Thank you
Thank you
Try putting a socket on crank pulley abd turn motor a bit. Then see if it starts (don't forget remove wrench!)
You're hearing a hum, which to me says most of the electrical is working. The ignition switch, start button, etc. What isn't working is starter not actually turning.
Likely that is because its not getting enough power. Like a bad main battery ground, or bad main + cable, battery to starter. Or just a low battery.
But my suggestion above was to rule out a situation where starter tries to enfage flywheel, but a bad tooth or something is hanging it up. Rotate crank means different tooth.
Next rule out battery itself. Simple voltage check. If its below about 12.4V, that is likely your problem. Try charging battery first, retry.
