Default 2002 S2000 - still need component set?

hey guys. I'm a proud new owner of an 02, which i'm sure by now, all of you know come with built in tweeters. So i was wondering, before i go out and buy unecessary items, if components are needed or if a coaxial 6.5 will be sufficient? If i do get components, prob something that i can just drop in with no cutting involved, which ones are best and which tweeters will fit my stock housing?

I was thinking about sticking in MB Quart's PKC-116 and keeping the stock tweeters, plus, of course either a sub - loc and size yet to be dtermined.

The specs on the 116:
Referenz Premium Series 6 1/2" Coaxial Speakers

Specifications:
Depth: 2.24 inches
Frequency Response: 40 - 32000Hz
Installation Diameter: 5.61 inches
Peak Power: 130 Watts
RMS Power: 60 Watts
Sensitivity: 87dB / W / m
Size: 6.5 inches
Type: Coaxial 2-Way

BTW, is 2.24 inches too deep to just drop in? Please let me know if you guys can help. Cheers!

anything over 2" mounting depth won't just drop in. Get your cutters out!

If you fab new plates for the doors you can drop in almost 3 full inches of speaker into the doors! No cutting of the basket just toss it. But seriously: You can fit I believe 2.25 inches of depth into the basket. Though the magnets can prevent this if they are to large. Also those 6.5" speakers that are OVER SIZED will NOT fit in the basket even if you cut the back out.

As for the tweeters I would say replace them! Though never having taken off the doors on a 2002 I can not help ya there.........I don't think ANYBODY here can. Its one that you just take it to a shop and say HERE------> MAKE IT WORK. They much prefer it that way vs telling them just how to do it.

Food for thought.

Thanks guys... so now that components are decided, which ones do you recommend that i can just "drop in"? BA, MB, or Polk? Opinions will indeed vary here, but i'm open to suggestions.

I just got an 02' and am also considering component speakers. I would like to keep the stock head and upgrade the fronts, hopefully without adding an amp. Any sugestions as to efficient, high quality component speakers? How does the 02' drive the tweeters? Do they use an external crossover? The tweeter housing looks to be about 2" wide so I am assuming the 1" tweeter common on most systems would fit.
