Thanks for this DIY. Even though I could've modified the plugs and sockets, I still spliced mine in anyway.

What do you mean spliced yours in? Don't the brackets not work or you got the $50 wiring kit from hardtop guy?

^^^ He probably didn't have the wiring kit from hardtop guy, that's why he'd spliced his.

any updates on whether it was easier to do the wiring conversion if ap2 sockets were used as opposed to reusing the ap1's and grinding it down to fit. So far all I have is the taillight housing and plan on buying the foam gaskets and now determining if I should go ahead and also buy ap2 sockets and anyone know what the measurements are on that metal mounting bracket?

TIA

i installed one side of the tail light, but found that the size was not exactly match, i try serval position, but still a 1 mm to 2 mm gap no matter wat, and this DIY method may cause leaking....

any one has same situation?

I did mine a month or so ago and love them. I actually got the full ap2 harness with bulbs, so I just spliced and soldered the new harness in and connected them strait up.

To chiney dolly, there are little foam gaskets that are on the back of the taillights, and thats what everyone uses for a template. I even used this thread to know where to line it all up, worked perfect! I also havent had any leaks or have them fog up on me.
