Default ? about changing the HU.

Im a n00bie so take it easy on me.

I am considering a sound system (Subs/Amps/HU/Front/Rear speakers).
Now my question is if i change the HeadUnit, will i be able to use the Audio control buttons on a driver's side? (mute/audio/volume) buttons.

if not, has anyone done it so that it will work with after market HU's?

TIA

You can do it. Lucid, a site sponsor, offers head units and the PAC SWI-X unit that allows you to use the controls. Several people here in AZ have done it.

Lucid's site is:
http://www.lucidautomotive.com

It is a pretty neat install too. I helped pull a head unit out, but have not done mine yet.

One more question,
so if i buy the PAC SWI-X unit from lucid, will local audio shops be able to do this job easily?

Should be no problem at all for an audio shop to install this setup. Just make sure you find a good shop.

You can buy the SWI-X at just about any local shop, so if you're going for a large install, convince them to throw an install of one in for free. Off the net, you can find shops that sell them for around $50. See my webpage to get an idea of what's involved...
