Thumbs up Advice/Opinions/Experiences on

I did use Search but did not find any results so I wanted to ask.

I found a similar item on another forum and researched it further and found this item, the Alpine PLT-5 LAT Subwoofer System. I'm not looking for something simple and easy. I'm not an audiophile nor do I intend on going to any "crank-it-up" contest. I just want some more sound/bass to hear/feel while cruising down the freeway. I usually turn down the sound at red lights as to not disturb other commuters (I'm just nice that way) Alpine says it sounds like 2-10's and the reviews on Crutchfield support that statement BUT their applications have been in trucks, 4-door sedans, etc., not in a convertible. Any thoughts? It has low level inputs so I could connect it to the stock HU for now until I decide on an HU to replace my stock unit.

TIA

A buddy of mine has one of these connected to a stock HU in his FJ Cruiser. It sounds good for what it is, about the same as a a powered Bazooka tube....which is amazing considering the size of the drivers. But trust me it's not even close to the same as what you'd get from a properly powered pair of 10's.

While that's not a bad solution for an SUV, I'd spend the little bit extra and get a custom enclosure with a single 10 installed for your S. You'll have better output and much nicer asthetics...To save some dough, just keep your eye out in the classified section, people sell them here fairly often.
