Default Some Questions About Keeping Stock Headunit

First off, I would like to say that I have been reading alot around the forums and I really like it here. This is my first indepth post that I would like to get an answer to if possible. My main goal is to keep my S2K mainly stock with subtle and elegance appearence and function. I would like to keep my stock headunit and have read the audio faq here but did not see any info about sound processors such as the JL Cleansweep and the new unit coming out by Alpine. I know most say hey get a new headunit, but its not what I want to do now. So has anyone tried this JL cleansweep sound processor. I would like to know what the results are when paired with the s2k and any other information that can be given other than whats on JLs site.

this goes against what you want to hear, but i think you should reconsider it

for 1, an upgrade in stock unit LOOKS very much stock in the car, especially with the alpine units.

i would too be reluctant to switch HUs on most newer cars with the full integrated dash (bleh).. but given that we have a very spartan interior, a single DIN unit, AND a door covering, a new HU does not at all look out of place

2ndly, the JL solution will simply not sound as good as a straight source... not only that you are processing and equalizing the sound twice, consider that the DAC converter in the stock HU isnt as good as most aftermarket converter either

lastly, JL stuff is EXPENSIVE and is 1 more unit to have to install to the car...

the Nakamichi CD-400 is a simple black headunit that doesn't look that
different from the stock one, and can be contolled by the Modifry DCI
so you retain your dash controls. I'm sure there are others too.
