Advice on speaker cable?
Hi
I need to rip out my head unit once again and I know that I will want to add rear speakers soon but haven't chosen which. I thought that a sensible thing to do would be to run some cables to the rear speaker locations whilst I was taking things apart anyway so the rear speaker fitting later will be a 5 minute job, but that means I need to buy the cable.
So I'm looking for recommendations of what I should look for in a speaker cable. My criteria are ease of connection to wiring, cost and ease of routing to rear panels. I am not expecting to be adding an amp soon and will be driving them directly from my Alpine 7878.
I know this is subjective but I don't mind paying for a bit of quality but don't want to pay big

Numerous tests have shown that the standard $5/25-feet speaker cable from places like Wal-Mart are just as good as any of that gimmicky "99.99999999999999% oxygen-free, double-cladded, gee-wiz" stuff you buy for $50/foot. If you're not running more than 50 or 60 Watts, that stuff is just fine. If you're talking about high-power stuff, you need to consider something of a larger guage, and you won't find that at Wally-Mart (although Home Depot sometimes has a few nice selections).
typical 18 gauge speaker wire (generic) is fine for if you're going that short of distance and not using an amp. If you had to weave in and around everything and/or using an amp a double insulated and thicker gauge is the way to go.
