Aftermarket alarm
If you plan on parking with top down at times, i'd get something a proximity radar sensor. The Clifford Intelliguard 8000, which i got for $400 installed, has this plus the usual features. It'll make warning chirps if someone stands around the car too long and go off if any movement is detected inside/around the cockpit area. The radar sensitivity is programmable. If you're really paranoid, the 9000 model has shock sensor and remote start. I just got the backup horn for extra loudness/precaution. Clifford's reputation is second to none in the alarm business.
I have an Alpine 8081 with included two stage proximity radar sensor... the only problem I have with leaving the top down is when stuff (leaves) gets blown into the cockpit, the alarm goes off!

I completely agree with you guys. I've had my Clifford 8000 with the prox-sensor since last August. Although I paid way too much $600 installed, the system works great and the peace of mind is worth it. Also, the prox-sensor doesn't seem to false alarm so no complaints from the neighbors yet.

ITR is correct. I also purchased the concept 600 ($700 installed) with a dual proximity sensor. Works like a champ. I also had the "nightlight" feature (turns on the headlights automatically and off after 30 seconds (very nice HID showoff feature!!)) as well as the "windows up" feature (rolls windows up when armed) installed. The best!!
