Default Aftermarket stereo

In a 2004 model, do I need to remove parts of the transmission tunnel plastics to remove/replace the H/U, or can the stereo be removed straight by fiddling behind the silver cover?

Thanks,

Dimitris

I have an '03 and I just pulled off the radio cover/door and used a screw driver to take out the radio. Very easy to do.

I have an '06 and you definitely need to remove the trim piece that basically covers the entire transmission tunnel. The door simply wont pull out until there is enough clearance. Might be an AP2 only requirement.

yeah, I figured I have to remove the plastic trim piece on the transmission tunnel -- apparently this is needed only for MY2004+ vehicles.
I got this noted in some insturctions that came with the stereo from Crutchfield but wanted to verify with this group.

Thanks, guys!
