Id splice on some longer leads and put it under the dash inside the car.

There are some "stealth" install options to hide the entire unit that an experienced installer should be able to point out for you. More hassel so install may cost more but makes it harder to get at.

That looks like a siren and not a backup battery.

It's a stealth backup battery, looks like a siren to fool the bad guys.

Locations for battery:
  • Behind one of the front fender liners, near the firewall. There is lots of room in there but it's protected from engine bay heat and the weather.
  • If you feel like running long wires, on the left side of the gas tank.
  • Behind one of the side carpeted panels in the trunk.
  • Depending on battery size, behind the passenger side foot well cover. There is a big foam block that fills the hole that leads into a cavity just in front of the passenger door. This is where the wires go through the door to the speaker and window switches but there is a good bit of room in there. This is a separate cavity from the one accessible under the wheel well.
  • Under the passenger's foot rest there is a large foam block, maybe cut a cavity in the foam to hold the battery.
  • There is also some room behind the access panels that are behind each seat.
