Default Alarm

Battery went flat whilst I was away for 4 weeks. Had it out to recharge but when I reconnect the alarm sounds. I have checked the hand book and the tech qeries but there is no mention of the alarm sounding on reconnection of the battery.
Can anybody tell me the proceedure to stop the alarm sounding.
Thanks

It will sound when you re-connect the battery. Podge the unlock button on the remote. If it still carries on then the battery may be kaput.

Thanks Wobbly,
looks like I need a new battery.
Off to Hafords to get one. On the tech site it suggests a HB053 but I have just checked the Halfords web and they suggest a HB057 it is the same physical size as the original equipment(Furukawa) but the rating is a bit more than the car handbook original, 36AH against Halfords 45AH.
I will be away again next month so I think I will get a trickle charger. The Tech site suggests a CTEK and I think that an XS800 will be sutable but can I use the charger without disconnecting the battery?
Thanks

No worries. The cold weather always takes it's toll on batteries this time of year. The FAQ recommends the HB053 so I would stick with this. Not sure about the trickle charger, but with a new battery and regular use, you probably won't need one.

i think it's todo with what car you have.... UKDM or JDM?

the batteries i think are mirrors of each other so one on the poles on the left, on the other battery, the poles are on the right...

i think the physical size is the same, but it's something todo with the poles!

If you're near Stamford I can get you one cheaper with my Halfords trade card, but it might also be worth checking your local dealer.

could of worded that a bit better, but you get what i was saying.

i forgot to mention that the other (wrong) battery wont fit - the battery cables aren't long enough, so make sure you get the right one before you drive home to fit
