ALL figured out, almost
Finally getting around to upgrading the audio system ( 2 kids, a wife who likes shopping, and me who likes to buy tools). Well here goes my ideal setup. Headunit = Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS, components = Diamond Audio Hex S600 silk, sub = JL 10/W3V3 with box made by me, amp = ??? I would like to mount the amp or amps in the spare tire cavity. Budget for the amp/amps is about $800. Would I be best buying two amps or one 4 channel with rear bridged? The Audison LRX 4.1k looks great, or should I get two JL 300/2v2, or ??? I want clean and clear power, but nothing over the top like Brax, I am merely mortal.
I have a similar set up (Eclipse CD7100, Diamond S600s, IDQ 12). I have an Audison LRX 2.150 for the Hexes and a JL 500/1v2 for the sub. Both are mounted behind the seat (audison behind the driver, JL behind the passenger). Check out ebay, might be able to get some deals.
LoL...yeah, I'm only 5'7 or so. I'd talked with a shop about having them mounted in the spare tire area before I picked the behind the seat location. There's plenty of space to mount those two amps though - the LRX has a small footprint.
Alpine PDX amps are great. Low battery drainage and plenty of power. I have the 100.4 and 600.1. They replaced JL 300/4 and 500/1. Alpine and Eclipse have a noticebly better sq over Pioneer, but Pioneer has better ergonomics and a better EQ imo. I have all three brands at comparable cost in the car. I like the Alpine the best but it probably has the worst display, EQ, and the worlds most illegible clock. Sound is amazing tho.
