Unhappy Alpine 17LS Question!

Hi Guys,
I just bought a pair of Alpine 17LS Type R component Speakers for my 07 s2k. The guys at Best Buys said the Depth is too big and i won't be able to install it in my car because the depth of the car is 2 inches only. I was wondering if anyone has a pair of these speakers in their car and how did they get it in. Thanks!

you'll probably have to cut out the plastic of the OEM speaker cut. Be advised this will allow water to drip on the back of your speaker. Which is bad lol. espeically if the back of the speaker is open to the elements (ie open vent pole peice)

I installed the Kicker SS562 which did require cutting but have a rubber sealed magnate cover so it was ok.

They will fit just fine... that's what you get from the guys a BB.

To get around the water issue, (which is a fair concern if you use your S as a daily driver), you can purchase the XTC foam baffles and just cut a nice slit the size of your little pinky finger into the bottom of it. That will protect the speaker and not hurt the speaker from being inclosed in an "enclosure"

They will fit though I have the Alpine SPX-177a's in my car and I love them nice choice.

i also bought the type R's at best buy for a good price $163 with tax included and couldn't pass up the price. i'm also concerned about fitment and i've searched the site regarding fitment. some say there will be cutting aside from basket while others say it'll need spacers. exactly what is needed? will i need to cut the basket and also apply spacers? Also where do i get the baffles?

If i do decide to get a different set of components, what sets bolt right in without minimal modification? thanks in advance.
