alpine 9815 install question????
I just purchased this unit and will either get the harness or the control unit with
harness from Lucid but I have one question. With these alpine units they always recommend running power directly from battery. How have you guys handled this.
I am thinking on running 8 gauge to under the seat have a distribution block there
and sending the 10 gauge to the headunit. Running the wires through the center
console. This is so that when if I decide to add a sub it will be much easier.
Does this sound reasonable, and if i use the distribution block, will i still need an extra
fuse holder for the 10 gauge or the fuses in the block will suffice?
thanks for the help

When I installed the CDA-9813 in my car, I connected the yellow power wire to the factory harness since I already had a seperate amp. I saw no reason to run a seperate power line to the headunit if I was going to turn off the internal amp.
But if you do plan on using the internal amp and therefore run a 10 gauge wire directly to the headunit, I don't see a need for the extra fuse, when there is already a fuse holder with 15amp fuse built into the Alpine wire harness.

No need for that. Just use the harness for all your wiring needs....
Not worth the trouble and I am pretty sure you will not see any gains anyway with a bigger gauge......your HU will only be spitting out about 40-50 WRMS....
The stock gauge should handle that plenty.

they actually state that the alpine does 27wrms per chanel
so i am looking at 100 wrms on average use
and i will be using the HU for the speakers.
I have read many posts and there are people that use the harness and people that use the power, i rather use the power
if that is what the manual states. So how does that wiring scheme look, just use the fuse in the distribution block?
