Will any of these clear our doors? I need to know if i can close our radios doors with the headunit installed. I wouldn't mind it too much if i had to remove the faceplate to close it. What I have in there now won't close with the faceplate off.

So does our radio close with the faceplate on or must i remove it?

 

I just got the 9831 and was told by many that this head unit works fine.

 

I have the 9835 and have no door problems.

 

9831 and no issues. i chose this one as it has mp3/wma and has a decent text display and is less expensive than the 2 higher versions. as my radio door stays closed its pointless to have the really flashy display(even though its great).

 

i have a 9831 too, and my shifter is so low that if the door is open, i'll bang into it shifting to 3rd or 5th so it's closed all the time. Fancy displays are too much, and distracting to boot.

 

9835 and it fits fine. Just wish the remote went thru the radio door!

 

I have the 9831 as well. Door closes just fine. I got it because it had a 12 character display vs the 8 on the lower models, and I'm using my iPod with it (with the KCA-420i) and wanted more display characters.

One thing to watch out for though... if you tilt the faceplate the door will not close. When the unit powers off the faceplate returns to the vertical position after 30 seconds. But when it powers back on it returns to the previous position. So there is a potential for you to power off the unit, close the door, and then have it try to tilt when you turn the car on next time.

 

My 9835 fits fine, but if you want to close the door make sure it's not in "tilt" mode, and fully in it's upright position.

 

what he said. I can even put the clip on for my glasses on the right side of the pocket in the radio door. BTW the KCA420 works great....
