Has any one put a Alpine CDA 7998 deck in there S2K??

 

Have Alpine 7998 in '02 S2K.
Have had 7995 installed also.

 

i think while ago PAS2KNut also had one in there.... i believe he got rid of it due to issues w/ size.

Is there some reason that the radio door has to be open? I know that the Alpine face slides down when it is on. Does this not leave room to shut the door?

This unit has a large face, and in order for the unit to work the face must be displayed. Thus, you must keep the door open because the large face makes it prohibitive to close the door. I thought that you could hide the display and the unit would still work, thus allowing the radio door to be closed like a Sony Unit I had before. However, I was not able to find a hide and use function on the Alpine unit.
