Dave-ROR - This unit IS Bluetooth ready. You will need the adapter, but there is a definite "Bluetooth" menu within the Setup screen (I am assuming to sync your phone).
My reply was that it does NOT come with bluetooth (as in, a functional bluetooth interface) and it doesn't.
The Pio unit he was looking at (and purchased) is more than bluetooth ready since it has a functional bluetooth interface that works without an additional $200 box.
Ah. Sorry. I would rather have the Bluetooth box and the fullspeed iPod connection than the built in Bluetooth and an inferior iPod interface.
I ordered mine through Darkknight1999. He is an authorized dealer and his price was pretty good. I just wanted the warranty for these babies. I am running a Hifonics Titan 8800 to the doors (110wrms) and an Infinity Reference 7520a (98wrms) to the S-pods (tuned down because of speaker location). I would ideally like a PDX series (well, technically I would rather have a Brax or Audison unit... that is what dreams are for), but this is a phased upgrade. I went from stock to mid-level, and now I am converting to high-end equipment. Amps are the last thing.
I cannot find a Q control on this thing. Anyone else have any luck? Only mention of tuning are the EQ presets, which are generic "rock" "pop" etc. settings....

A couple of questions for those with this HU installed.
In terms of iPod control using the dash controls (via Modifry DCI), what exactly are you able to do? Does the Channel button advance to the next song from the playlist/album/artist depending on which of those you used to select the current song?
How easy/difficult is it to use the central rotary dial to search the iPod? I tried the unit out at a store today, and couldn't decide if I liked that the dial didn't spin fully around... I always like true rotary controllers for volume, but in a car, perhaps the "hold down for scan" is a better way to go? This allows for skipping by first letter of artist, song, etc.
Any other comments on real-world usability?
Thanks,
Phil

Re: DCI
It does everything the stock controls do but better. If you go to the Modifry website and look at the "installation and use guide" it will break it down for you.
I use the "Tap n Press" settings and after about 2 mins I had it mastered.
I can switch all inputs, ffwd and rwnd tracks, pause/mute, volume +-, radio station and track jump.
It is a no brainer and trust me I was skeptical of the DCI. The HU sounds much better than stock and the DCI works smarter than the stock dash controls. I love it.
All that being said the actual iPod search type controls are done at the HU. And so far it seems no one has it down better that Alpine.
I really have nothing at all negative to say about the DCI other than mine shipped with a bum 3.5 mini cable. Modifry promptly sent a replacement for it and it has been smooth sailing since.

Not sure if it has a Q control, the last Alpine with really good tunability that I've used was the 9855..
If the other guys fix their ipod interfaces I'd rip the alpine HU out of my S.
Yeah, but there is an option for an external audio processor (I think)..... does this function apply to the standard speaker outputs, or the RCA outputs? It would be great if you could run an in-line EQ, with an unprocessed signal between the HU and my amps.... hmmm....

Modifry's unit is SPECIFIC to the S2000.For all those tuning nuts out there, this unit also controls the Alpine PXA-H701 . Does anyone know if all the functions are present that are present in the Alpine RUX-C701 ? If so, the tuning capabilities of the older iPersonalize units are BAAAACK, but it will cost a pretty penny. Crutchfield wants $499 for the PXA-H701. Maybe when it can be had for mid-low $200's I will pull the trigger.
