hmm no idea.. if it functions like a USB port does and has 5V power (or whatever USB's spec is) I'd think it would power it.

If not, just consider it a portable $$$$$$ drive.

This one looks good too, problem is, the alpine can only power no more than 500mA. None of these drives state power draw in their spec sheets.

Alright....step one looks good. However, belive the Alpine unit will not display cover art from any source other than the ipod....can anyone confirm?

Costco has it for $104.99 after rebate of $10 reg price $114.99

160 gb drive = 10000 songs?

Every time I key one the car, usb start the first song, not the FM I was listening to and not the Ipod song from last played

do I have a pref set wrong??

I never got a book with user info just installation instructions

Answered my own question...if you want to use a hard drive like the ones I posted links too, you need to buy the KCA-620M. I love alpine, they sure know how to grab your wallet by the balls.

next week maybe I'll buy the costco and just ry it.... with out the KCA-620M $160 crutchfield

I dont need 160 gb HD for 40000 songs nor do I have 40000 song

Suck that 8 gb flash (PNY $139.99 Bestbuy) is nearly same price in stores as 160 HD
(Costco $104)

if it does not work.... costco return

Dimmer does not effect the DCI in my setup.....ever. Nor do I have a problem with it reverting to USB. In the morning it is right where I left it.....AM, FM, iPod, USB whatever.

I bought the PNY 8Gig Flash from Newegg for $55 if that helps at all. I realize it is not 160g but it works great and holds a ton.

Still I am interested to see how the 160g works.
