Has been pretty difficult to put the cable under the glove box and pull it into position with the help of a wire as a "pivot".

Thanks for the idea!!

my car:

That ipod-mount is what I've been talking about.
The cable had to be put underneath the glove box, therefore, i used a strong wire to thread it through the small hole into its final position.

Which one do you have? I have the older IR DCI and it works with the headlights on. I have my headlights on during the drive to work and there isn't any problems.

Bob emailed me back and he was going to duplicate it on his end

IdaX001 radio
Setup> Display> Dimmer> ON

DCI works with headlight off

now parking lights or headlight on, DCI stops workig (Volume, Channel, Mode and SVC)

but did you turn on Dimmer "on" Radio pref. to dim radio at night? (3 levels of Dimmer in prefs)
if I turn Dimmer "off" then DCI works with or with out headlight, night viewing radiois FULL bright

Dave-

The IR DCI does NOT work. I tried moving it ALL OVER the front of the face, trying to get any of the IR functions to work, but no dice. The mute still works great, but that is a wired function even with the IR DCI. I even plugged my 7995 back in to make sure I did not kill the DCI during the removal process, but it worked great.

*edit* Just got caught up on the thread, and I have not tried it with the light combinations yet, nor the dimmer. Will try tonight and I will communicate my findings. *edit*

I got a 60 GB ipod and I promise you, with the help of the percentage search-option, I find every track faster with the CDE, than the IDA.
So do I. The search functions on the IDA also allow you to scroll at accelerated speeds (similar to iPod), and does 1 better. It allows you to search within the given field (artist, album, etc.) for the first letter of the artist / album. When you get efficient at it, you spend almost no time surfing. I guess that is true for just about any interface, though....

Roger that.

Here is another question...I havent installed mine yet.

I only have one ipod, and was going to get one for the car only. However, I recently landed across this...

http://www.pexagontech.com/products/portab...CFSBMGgodKlDkgw

160gb for 130 bucks. However, it has no power connections. It gets its power from usb, but its made for laptops/pcs. Will the headunit power it?
