Default Alpine IDA-X100 HELP!

I got a Alpine IDA-X100 & when I hook up the speaker wires & turn it on there is barely or no sound @ all from the speakers. When I switch the HU out, because I also own a IDA-X001 the speaker then works. Is there something wrong with my IDA-X100? Or is there something I didn't not adjust>? It does this with the tuner, USB storage, IPOD & Aux. When I turn the volume all the way up you can hear the music but barely. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is the "Power IC" set up correctly? This function turns off the internal amps - see page 22 of the manual here http://vault.alpine-usa.com/products/docum...OM_IDA-X100.PDF

^ tried that also. I can barely here the music then when I switch IC to off the music is gone. When I switch it back on I can barely hear it. Do you think something is wring with my internal amp? Also when I turn the engine on(just found this out) there is MAD distortion.

a bad ground would be my first guess, based largely on the distortion when the car engine is running. try regrounding it.

if that doesn't work, i'd try pulling the headunit, then connecting only power, wire, ignition, and one speaker at a time (with the headunit out of the dash). that will eliminate wiring and such from the equation. if your old headunit works and the new one doesnt under those conditions, you've isolated the problem to the headunit itself and you know that's the problem. if it does, you know the problem is elsewhere and you have to find it using similar techniques.
