Default Alpine Navigation Systems

I have a couple of questions for those in the know about Alpine and their navigation systems.

First off, on Alpine Europe's website they have a new system listed (NVE-N099P) that looks like better graphics and features than our model, and also supports the touch screen interface. Does anyone know how soon they'll be bringing it to the States?

Second, hypothetically, if I ordered a European version and put in US map discs, would it work normally, or do you think it just wouldn't read the discs?

Alpine's Nav in the Asian market blows away the US version. I have the JDM Alpine Nav catalog..it is simply incredible! It has 3 dimensional graphics for on-ramps and confusing multi road situations......The US market is at least 2-3 years behind

I doubt the US discs would work, but this is pure speculation based on the boxes being different.

Well, I understand why we'd be behind the JDM version, just simply because of the vast size of the United States compared to the island of Japan. I find the JDM version fascinating though.

The EDM version is what interests me more. Looks like just a more advanced version of the USDM. I like the ability for it to interface with Alpine's touch screens.
