Go purchase 2 more spacers and they will fit in your door. I had to use 2 for each door cause the Type R components I have bang up against the glass. You might be able to get them free at Best Buy or any car audio retailer. I got mine for free! Well I also work for them too. My system was dirt cheap...hehehe

Make sure to paint the MDF. If water gets on it it will ruin them in 5 minutes... and then you'll add 10 pounds of water to the inside of the door. Paint um up!

I hate these speakers. They're too damn big for our car. Everytime I turn the bass up they rattle against the door panel. Do any of you guys have the same problem?

They shouldnt rattle if they are not touching anything and tighten down good. I'm gonna guess you have something loose. That your your REALLY bumping them, then its normal.

Im not really bumping them, my bass is at +1 on my stock HU. It sounds like they're bumping against the door panel. Is there anything else they could be touching or what else could be causing the noise? I'm pretty sure everything is tight.

haha I actually just installed these speakers yesterday in my S...I actually work for best buy mobile install. The Type Rs need a 1" spacer which you can get at best buy...mine were only 2 bucks with my discount lol but normally i think they are around 12 bucks. There still are problems using it though. Number one you need to mount the speaker as low as possible around the speaker hole to avoid hitting the bend in the door panel. #2 on the actual door panel itself...there is a plastic ring that goes around the fatory speaker with foam padding around it...this ring needs to be cut or grinded off the door panel. I did mine in about five minutes grinding away with a dremel. Other then that you shouldn't really have any problems with anything.

Also...Type R components do not sound good unless they are amped. Alpine makes a tiny 2 channel amp which works perfect in our cars. it's the 220 model. The Type r components can handle 70 watts rms and the amp puts out 50 rms per channel. I mounted this amp behind the passenger seat...ran the speaker wire and rcas through the center console under the padding...then brought the power wire in on the driver side...ran it behing the dash to the passenger side...down the door rail...and to the amp.

Only other thing I would really reccommend is to dynamat the doors...It helped alot in mine.

Hope this helps
