Don't know about in an s2000 but I've always liked the JL C2's over the type R's and the JL C5's are on a different level then the C2's. If you want to fork out the money though, then go C5's but all in all, the C2's a excellent choice.

Same here dont know how they perform in the S2000

But I didnt like how Alpine Type R sounded at the shop, havent had a chance to hear those specific pair of JL...

Try these Hybrid Audio Technologies Imagine Series I61-2, those are the best I have heard in the S2000 so far within a reasonable budget...

I have Type R's as well. Got a good deal from the shop I used to work at. Eventually i was going to move to the JL C2's but the Alpine tweeter was larger then the C2 tweeter so since I had to cut mine into my panel I couldn't do that without changing panels to some new AP1's or moving to AP2's.

Back on topic, JL c2's and the type R's are very comparable in sound and price but the C5's are a step up to both.

Can't speak for the S but i've had both these speakers (and currently have the c5's all around in my truck). The JL's are night and day better than the alpine type R's

I really want to install the C5's From my research the S2000 offers 2" of depth and these need 2.5". Anyone get them installed? I think the Alpine type r's are decently deep as well. Is the 2" depth based on the back of the plastic baffle or to the glass window? I'm not having much luck finding a 1/2 extension and lots of people talk about a brand called Lucid but the links are all dead, and google didn't help.

Any recommended products to make the C5's work? I can cut the plastic baffle, but that's about where my abilities end.
