Alpine UTE-73BT
#31
I know this is an old thread, but I just installed the UTE-73BT. Does your radio door hit the volume knob? I think it hits it when you push the door open and close.
I just installed this headunit last night. So far, so good. Has some preset EQs. Not as many features as my previous >2 year old Kenwood, but for the price, seems like a good value. As far as quality goes, the display is nice and the headunit isn't too flashy.
The volume knob could be a little more premium, but for the price I don't think you can expect much.
As far as built in amp goes, didn't seem to make much (if any) of an improvement over OEM radio, which was disappointing.
Works perfect with Modifry DCI.
Guess it's time to add an external amp. Thinking of going with the alpine power pack.

My knob hit the door. I had to install the mounting brackets closer to the radio face, pushing the actual radio deeper into the "basket". This only allowed the use of one screw per side but it was fine.

If you slightly elongate the screw holes in the bracket (a Dremel works nicely), you can mount the bracket slightly forward
on the headunit thus mounting the headunit slightly further back in the car.

It greatly reduces the volume but doesn't completely mute it. BUT it serves its function very well so I'm satisfied. Can't go wrong for a $100 head unit; gives me all of the functionality I could ask for. I wish aftermarket manufacturers would adopt a more minimalistic design like OEMs....I really hate the look of virtually every single din on the market lol

The Modifry Dci ia the way to go.

The generic steering wheel control interfaces will generally work for all the dash controls with the possible
exception of the mute button (which is its own separate circuit, and some don't support it).
The Modifry DCI, being custom for the S2000, will have full functionality + added features including the
ability to add speed-controlled volume.
The Modifry is a quality product, but only you can decide if it's worth it to you.
