Default Alping 9887 HU issue

I'm having an issue with my headunit; it won't remember the radio station when the car is started. The stations aren't lost from the HU memory slots. When I start the car, the radio is on 88.7 or something arbitrary and I have to select a station.

I have the Alpine 9887 HU with Modifry adapter & plug-n-play unit. Any ideas why the HU won't keep the last radio station selected when the car is started? I also have the HD tuner adapter that has a power line run to the fuse box.

I think it may need a power line to the battery but I thought using the Modifry adapter which connects to power would solve this.

Thanks,

the yellow wire is for 12 volts constant, I'm willing to bet that red and yellow are wired together causing your problem.

What he said.. Yellow is constant 12v and red is switched 12v (off the Alpine harness). The yellow provides constant power, and switched tells the HU when it can turn on. If you switch the two, then the HU is not being provided power when the ignition is switched off. Use a test light/multimeter to correct the wiring.

12v constant should be colored white/blue(which if metered should read out 12volts or more without the key in the ign)
12v switched accessory should be colored white/red(which if metered should read out 12volts only with the key on the "on" position).

Good info. As I'm using an adapter plug to adapter plug, I haven't seen or heard of this before. i know I can run a power line straight to the battery but my understanding was using the modify adapter would not require doing this. Oh well

adapter plug to adapter plug only works when it's wired correctly. Like these guys said, red and yellow wires sound like they are wired vice versa
