Thumbs up Alternative to Qube's Audio Control?

Does anyone know if there is an alternative to Qube's Audio Control device? I'm curious to see if anyone has a different approach to providing a similar solution. Qube's approach is interesting but not seamless enough for my tastes. I thought I read about an 8-way audio control mod but I can't seem to find a thread about it.

Thanks spook, but I already have a modifry unit and actually quite like it. What I really would like is to add 4 or 8 way joystick functionality to the stock push button without losing any of the current functionality (this includes the mute button light). Keeping the modifry unit would also be ideal. It works great for me and I don't really have a problem with the communication delay.

There is a piece that came out which can do the same. PM Tphong for more info, he used it on his. I think it is an OEM-type plugin piece for steering wheel mounted controls and aftermarket HU.
