Ambient Lighting
Hey guys, I have a project, I've been wanting to do for quite sometime now.
Have you guys been in a TSX or Accord, there's this small light (next to the dome light) that shines on the console, I want to implement this in the S. Wondering if anyone has done this before? Also, does anyone know if they used Led's or bulbs?

Heres what I did with my cup holder and trunk.
Wired into the door switch and a toggle switch for when the doors are closed.

Wired into trunk switch.

These are what I used and I am very much a big fan of them and suggest them as they are ready to wire direct into 12v.

I put an overhead LED in my Outback XT a few years back. I was able to hide it behind the lens for the map light, and also tap into switched +12V for the illumination that was up in that area. Unfortunately, there is no switched illumination wiring up there in the S2K, but it might not be hard to run.
The advantage of placing the LED behind the lens was that it diffused the LED's light nicely. Just make sure it's not too close to the main bulbs and their heat.

Wow, that looks good kertef! I'm going with an Amber led to match the rest of the interior lighting.
Thanks for the tip guys, yeah.. the Illumination is going to be hard to run up there. I'm guessing running it from the dash, and hiding it under the window covers... I don't wanna make this a hack job either. My concern is smoothly getting that light plushed with the dome.

I've been wanting to implement something like this ever since my former Audi had it. Two small red lights up by where the mirror attached to the windshield, just bathed the shifter and center console area with this nice subtle glow.
The problem I see, potentially, is that a lot of the companies selling LED bulbs go on and on about how bright they are. I don't really want something impossibly bright; quite dim actually. So it could run when the headlights are on and not be annoying at night.

If you are able to get some fixtures for 194 bulbs check out this page: http://autolumination.com/194.htm and go down to the " 194 168 W5W 2825 Inverted Lenses" bulbs. I have one for my license plate and they aren't super bright like some others.
