Problem with relay running off trunk light
Can anybody tell me where I'm going wrong with this?
I am using one of the terminals of the trunk light to switch a standard 'Bosch 12v' type relay on (connector 86 I think). This works fine when the trunk catch is open but does not disengage the relay when it's closed.
When I connect a multimeter inbetween the trunk light and a ground connection I see +12v when the catch is open and 0v when closed. I guess my problem lies somewhere with the fact that the catch is connecting to ground - can anybody tell me how to wire a standard relay correctly in this setup?
Thanks!
Oli.

The switch is probably providing a ground to the light. Your relay is probably providing this all the time.
Any way to see if your trunk light is also staying on when your trunk is closed? I would assume that it is.

ok this is what you do...
you have 2 wire on the the bulb right?
splice both and put one of them in 85 and the other on 86. It does not make difference, as far as which one goes to 85 or 86.
let me know if there is any prob
