Thank you! I'll take a look for that when I have time to pull the radio later this week.

In the past I've hooked up car stereos to constant power (not acc power) so that I can use the radio without needing the key, or having the annoying beeping when the key is in and the door is open and I'm working on or cleaning the interior. Then I just turn the radio on and off manually. But this unit doesn't seem to have an off switch, just one to black the screen. I wonder how much current this draws when not in use and if it would kill my battery if I left it on. I figure the computer part probably draws very little, likely comparable to a cell phone in standby, but if the built-in amp stays on it might suck down some juice. Anyone tried this?

Just to update, the new interface for the JY-HQS01N4G-2 does NOT have the static clock on the side. I think that was the older Android 8.1 model that had that.

The JY-HQS01N4G-2 starts with a screen that looks like this (first image) - then if you click the cloverleaf on the left you then get the standard android screen filled with icons (second image). It's slightly annoying because except radio, I generally don't want to use these 4 built-in apps. But it looks nice.

The JY-HQS01N4G-1 starts off with this screen (or so they tell me- they have offered me the firmware to switch to this). I can't say what else is different, since I don't have this version.

Of course if you use NovaLauncher it's all moot, you can do whatever you like.

That first one doesnt look half bad. Seems like they finally started hiring decent designers.
I still prefer Nova since you can get complete customization. Also so many free icon packs in the play store that helps you get the exact look you want. And widgets you can add to your "desktop" like weather and time etc.

Despite all that, I mostly just stay in Spotify or Android Auto. Spotify on Android auto is annoying AF, so I'm usually on the regular spotify app. It looks great now that they updated it to fit the wide screen better.
Android auto is binded to my radio dashboard button. So I can get to it quickly.

Later this week I'm upgrading my 8 year old focal component speakers to a higher end pair of focals. Excited for the sound quality increase.

I think it was... I doubt that thing would fit in the stock area with how tall this unit is, and the way our dash protrudes above the radio area. And if it did, it would need spacers to come out enough and would hit the shifter. Also wouldnt be angled upwards.
The JOYING unit is like a perfect fit for our car. Not many other manufacturers making these ultra-ultra-wide screens with 8:3 aspect ratio that fit in our cars.

So... checked out those wires, and KEY and CAN OUT were already connected from the factory. I switched the two brown KEY 1 and KEY2 wires to the ASWC1 (as suggested in their instructions) and it started to work! It was all working great, I programmed volume UP/DOWN and the CH button as a pause switch, but I could not program the dash's Audio Mode button, it would only appear intermittently on the Joying, it would only make brief flashing contact. So I decided to reset the ASWC1 and try to reprogram it - and now it does not work at all. Nothing, nada, it's does not see the dash buttons at all anymore.

Do you remember if you had to do anything else special to get the ASWC to work? I assume that the ASWC's 3.5mm plug does not work with the Joying, since that's a mic input and not a "smart plug" like they mention. Do you remember if you hooked up both the brown KEY wires or just one? Did you let the ASWC autoprogram the brand of radio, or did you have to manually set it to one of the different brands?

Did you get Mute to work? it's been documented across the S2000 boards that Mute does not work with steering wheel interfaces, if you managed to get it to I'd love to hear how.

Your symptoms are exactly what you get if it's not powered.
Does the Joying have such a lead, and is it hooked up to the adapter harness blue wire?
Thank you for this, the radio gets reception now. FM works but is still pretty mediocre - worse than the factory head unit. But AM works fine whereas before it got nothing.

A shame that this Joying unit does not have HD Radio.

Try restarting the unit. I had an audio shop setup the ASWC but was next to the guy as he was doing it. I think besides connecting KEY and CAN OUT, it was just the default setup. If it was working for you before with the same setup, try restarting both the head unit and the ASWC and try again.
