So the fluttering is likely a result of a bad seal or connection internally? I checked the amp to sub connections earlier today, no problems there
Not really sure what fluttering is - just throwing out a couple things to check.

I am confident that it is sealed from an assembly perspective - just not sure if something happened in transit. If it is not sealed it would be very obvious - you would hear air escaping from the enclosure when it is running - a hissing type of sound.

To be honest - almost sounds like a setup issue. Almost like you are not getting a good clean 80-120 hz signal to the sub.

If you have a multimeter you can disconnect the sub and measure the impedance between the posts. Should be somewhere between 2.9 and 3.5 ohms

the only time i've ever seen a sub flutter (like you're describing) when there is no signal (but the amp is turned on), was when the amp was defective and had a loose internal connection.

try a different amp if possible.

Update on my sub:

I have a weird alternator whine problem (long before I got the sub) that is stumping me at the moment. I am currently running with my rear speakers unplugged completely. Just the fronts and the sub. I have a ground loop interruptor on the front channel, and it has shrunk the whining to a minimum.

Aside from the problems I am having with the idiot that installed my sytem (Yes, I did it myself. ) it sounds AWESOME. Sure, there are probably better sounding systems out there, but this thing ROCKS. I couldn't be more happy, especially considering the price.

The sub has REALLY filled out the low end of my system. I can now adjust my HU and amp do send the right sounds to all the right places and not try to filter, process or boost to try to make it sound right.

Why didn't I get a sub 2 years ago when I did the rest of the system? Oh, yeah. the installer was a dumb-ass.

start a new thread on diagnosing the whine... we'll get to the bottom of it.

I'm working on it this weekend again. If I can't find it then, I'll ask for some help. I think there is just tooooo much crap in the driver's side footwell. The alarm, the x-over, etc. I may end up relocating my x-over to see how that works.

Thanks.

np. try to isolate it to specific equipment if you can....

for starters, disconnect the RCA's from the amp. if the noise goes away, your problem is the RCA's or HU. if the noise stays, it's amp to speakers.

then, see if you can isolate the problem further.

Well I've been running the AW100T for over a week now and it's amazing. It surprises everyone how much bass comes from that little sub. It sounds great to me, but I'm not a true "audiophile" so that may color my opinion. Now I need to track down some rattles that are audible with the top up. I think it's coming from the area where the top folds into, because with the top down no rattles are audible. Any way, thanks to WLaurent for the great enclosure, thanks to everyone here for the help.

I took a piece of black surgical type tubing (had one laying around - think it was was from an old wrist-rocket ), split it down the middle, and then used as a gasket between where the tray comes up to meet the sheet metal of the car.

I'll have to give that a try. Thanks for the info.
