Default Anybody tried a KSC-SW1

Greetings from Fl

Has anyone tried mounting the Kenwood KSC-SW1 in the trunk. Im am not looking for mind bending bass, just good solid lows. It is small but has a 150W amp.

Thanks in advance

Let us know if you try. I looked but did not see any dimensions for this piglet on the Kenwood site. How about you go to a Kenwood dealer and see if one will fit under the driver's seat (as long as you don't have an alarm there).

Kenwood's KSC-SW1 subwoofer may be just what you need if you're looking for more bass, but don't have space for a conventional sub box or powered sub. This compact sub features an amplifier that pushes 150 watts RMS to a 6-1/2" woofer, with a 6-1/2" passive radiator built in for good measure. It's all housed in a rugged, low-profile enclosure that will fit just about anywhere.

The passive radiator technology is one of the keys to the surprisingly big sound of the KSC-SW1. Air pressure from the powered woofer moves the unpowered 6-1/2" radiator, augmenting the bass response. Read more

I was just wondering if anyone had put one in the trunk. From searching nthe threads, the unit will not fit under the seat.

Thanks for your reply

looks like it may fit atop, or in place of, the spare tire in the trunk?! if so that would be quite awesome

Question

It poses an interesting idea, but I did not want anything that would take up too much room in the trunk. It is real thin but very long. The Kenwood is far superior to the Clarion (which is smaller but does not sound as solid).

I originally thought about putting this unit under the seat, but there is not enough clearance.

I then thought about mounting it behind the seat. Which is possible, but the only way that I could figure out mounting it there and keeping some rear seat clearance, would be to install it about six inches off the floor and against the back wall directly behind the seat.

Only that would interfere with the rear speakers I installed.

There is a post from someone who put TWO of these units behind his seats. I would love to see the pictures.....
