Default Anyone else have the Empeg/RioCar?

Does anyone besides me (and a couple of other people I know of) have the Empeg/RioCar installed in their S2000?

With the recent (unofficial) announcement that SONICblue is EOL'ing the product, if you were thinking about getting one, you should do it soon.

Also, I should soon have a proper serial-control solution for the Empeg via our dash controls, and much more functional that the four single-purpose buttons we have now, and more reliable and powerful than an IR-Blaster solution. Anyone interested?

I installed the Empeg/Rio unit in my friend's Si a few months ago when they were initially offering it only to former Empeg unit owners. It's a nice unit but I don't think I can justify the $1200 price it runs or even the $700-800 discounted pricetag that former Empeg owners were charged. Mated to a good amp and speakers/sub, I do admit it sounds fantastic but still a bit steep.

I've been sportin' an Empeg since March of 2000. Best damn purchase I ever made. Bought the 6Gig version, immediately cracked that puppy open and put a couple 20g drives in. Driving around with 30G of music (all ripped from CD myself, all at 256k full stereo) is a dream come true.

Of course, mine isn't in an S2K yet. It's in my 99 Prelude SH, but I'm thinking of moving over the S2K. Pondering mounting options, since I have a NAV system and the Empeg, and the S2K only has 1 DIN space. Guess I'll have to go hog wild like some other folks here have and mount the monitor in the dash.

Cheers,
Ben
