I just finished installing my Alphasonik psw608 8 inch sub which came in a beautiful Wlaurent enclosure. Let me first say his enclosures are amazing, top notch quality, and perfect fit. Now to the issue at hand, the sub is just not cutting it for me, I dont know if its just the physical limitation of an 8 inch sub, but I am not impressed at all. I might have to jump up to a 10 inch. I can barely here the sub until I really crank up the volume, I have the gain on my Sound Stream Van gogh almost all the way up, and i am pushing 250 watts to the sub. My mids and high overpower the bass at every volume. I have the sub wired in series at an 8 ohm load.

After reading this I think you have it wired incorrectly. Your Van Gogh will do 250 watts @ 2ohms. In order to get the 4ohm dual voice coils to a 2ohm load you need to wire it in parallel. Once you do that then you should be pushing 250watts at 2ohms and you should hear a difference.
The W3V2 D4 is a dual voice coil 4ohm sub just like the alphasonik sub. So wiring it like this should deliver the above results.
I have the sub wired like this as the diagram verifies.
Now my amp is able to run 2 ohms at 250 watts, but not 2 0hms bridged from what I understand. By running it in parrallel bridged wouldnt it drop it down to 2 ohms? Let me know.
So you want me to run one channel to each voice coil right? It can hurt to try. Any of you guys think that maybe the sub needs to break in? I would love to hear someone else's 8 inch sub, but none of you guys are in the miami area. I am really contemplating moving up to a 10 inch sub and making my own custom box. How many watts you got running to your 10, dave? might have to change amps.
No, the sub doesnt need to break in. Trust me, wire it my way, if that doesnt work, its 100% headunit problem (assuming all the equip. is functioning properly)
Try it and get back to me......one channel per coil...
However... my sub is wired for a 2 ohm load. My soundstream EGA5700 pumps 300 watts to the sub, but I had to turn the boost on the amp to 50% b/c anything more and the sub would make popping noises... So now at 50% power... I can barely feel any base...
when I tweaked it, if I put the boost at 80-90%... the base would kick hard... I am just afraid the popping noises mean that I will blow the sub...
