Anyone running an Alphasonik 8 inch
Yeah tell me about it solreborn. I was expecting much more than what I got with this 8". They made it seem like the Elemental Designs performed like a 10 and that the alphasonik was not much different, but I put a 10 inch solobaric the other day in the trunk just to make sure the rear channels of the amp worked and that was 100% better than what my 8 inch is putting out now. If only i could make a 10inch fit in the wlaurent enclosure.
UPDATE
Well I have been able to improve the situation just a bit by using the mx expander to liven up the bass from the sub. It seems that at any volume level, the mids and highs over power the bass, its like if the sub is just working at half level. At less than half volume with out the mx expander on you cant hear or detect the sub. I am waiting for you guys to look over the diagram above for the way my sub is wired to see if thats right. If not let me know about the parrallel wiring. I am going to take the sub out and wire it as Dave mentioned earlier. Will keep you guys posted.

Dave, I went to wire the sub as you had recommended but I ran into a problem. I have the sub in an Wlaurent box, the box only has two inputs into the interior of the enclosure, a positive terminal and negative terminal. In order for me to wire it to each voice coil, I would need four terminals, two positives and two negatives, one set for each coil. So I have no real way of wiring each voice coil individually. Any suggestions to get it wired.
I can send you another set of terminals (with mounting template) and you can install them if you have a 1/4" drill bit and drill. Then you can run one channel to each VC (I personally would not do this).
It was mentioned above that the amp is 2 ohm stable - I looked at the docs and it did not appear as such. However, worst case in running it that way would be the amp over heating and shutting down (temporarily). Might be worth a try.
The other issue may be the higher impedance load. The specs did not provide an 8 ohm rating, so perhaps it is not linear and you are only getting 100 or so watts out of it.
Let me know which way you want to proceed.

William you are correct, the amp is not 2 ohm stable when bridged. I fear at the level that the components play that it would shut down the amp. I really do not want to have to deal with that. Dont worry about sending the terminals, I really dont want to go that route right now.
I will try and call alphasonik tommorow to determine if the sub is linear and the effect of running an 8 ohm load. It really does sound like the sub is only running at 100 watts, like I said I hooked up a 10 inch kicker solobaric temporarily last week to make sure the rear channels of the amp where working and it really put out some bass. Hmmm. Makes me wonder. Let me check alphasonik's website. If it does turn out to be unable to run at an 8 ohm load, what would you guys suggest for a replacement sub?

Another Idea, if it turns out the alphasonik will not work, I wil try and sell the Wlaurent box and Sub, and use my Kicker Solobaric 10. The sub is in new condition, and I would make a box which would fit in the tool well area, all I need to do is determine what the hell the sub is rated for, I dont think I have the box anymore for it, and I dont remember if its single or dual voice coil, and the ohm ratings and power handling. Anyone know how I could find out this information. If I could send 500 watts to it from my SS it would be Ideal!!!! Lets see how good my luck is.
First of all, MX is crap, turn it off. Next, I HIGHLY recommend you run to radioshack, get a terminal (3 bucks) and run it my way. My sub, Jims sub, are all wired like this, and they POUND, with clarity. I have wired my subs/amps this way since I got into car stereo.
You may want to rewire the sub in parallel first (2 ohm load) and see how it sounds. If that works for you then you can add the second set of terminals and run each VC of a different channel.
I am sure your Soundstream will handle the 2 ohm load with no problem.

I will try running the amp in parallel first before anything else. If its good then I will not bother with anything else. I will do that on sunday, and let you guys know what the outcome is. Thanks for all the help everyone.
Sol: the terminals are where you attach the speaker wires.
Right now with out mx expander, the sub is obsolete, hopefully running in parallel will fix this situation.
