i have a '01 s2000, what is the difference between the engine computers for the '01,'02, and '03?
i was told the '02,'03 computer is a much better computer than the old one, is that true?

 

They say the '02-'03 ECUs run leaner than the previous models thus creating a little more power. Some members have swapped out their ECUs for these newer ones. That being said its a pain because you have to reprogram the Immobilizer for this. However, a plus is that you can sell your 01 ECU easier because the 04 and up crowd looks for them.

 

...but the arguement has also been made that the 02-03 ECU also creates more wear on the engine because of this leaning out. If you want the added performance, just get a VAFC and a proper tune.
