Default AP1 instrument cluster fried

ok like the topic says I stupidly grounded out the cluster and it won't light up. The only thing that lights up is the battery light the green key light the turn signals and the beeping still works.

I fear I have fried my eprom and if so if I replace the whole cluster the mileage will be off and there goes my warranty.

has this ever happened to anyone?

can someone reprogram a new/used cluster to match the cars ECU?

thanks for the help

Ok, so I called a local dealer and it turns out they can recalibrate it.

Then I called Qube engineering and Art sold me the part that I fried for waayyy cheaper than I would have payed anywhere else.

I hope it all works when I get it together

Thanks Art for all your help.

Alright its all together and it works! now to got to the dealer

Learn from my mistake and don't mess with the guage cluster with power supplied. Unhook the Neg battery terminal.

Ok, this is what I learned:

2006 and up store milage on the ecu and mine is an 03 so it does not.

also 2006 and up gauge clusters can be recalibrated at the dealer... mine cannot

so, my car is in the shop till my cluster gets sent out to somwhere in california to be calibrated and then back again.

what a pita

hope this helps someone

I could have sworn my '08 cluster displayed the mileage when I had it on the workbench. Maybe it's in both places. I wonder what it would do if I added a few miles on the bench and then put it back in the car? I'll try that next time.
