Audio Control -> iPhone -> bluetooth -> amp
Pandora on my iPhone has been my car audio system for quite some time now. Is it possible to design a system that bypasses the head unit all together? Ideally I would like to connect my iPhone to a 30pin connector and be able to skip to the next track and control the volume by the stock audio controls. The iPhone would be connected to a AD2P Bluetooth receiver directly connected the amp.
Is this possible without a head unit? It seems the head unit is an unnecessary component in the system.

You can make this work but not with a 30 pin connector or using the audio controls either. You can use an amp to power the speakers and you can use a 3.5mm to RCA plug to get the audio from the ipod to the amp. All of the controls will be from the ipod and it wont charge the ipod either. And to top it off, if you use a charger you will most likely end up with some engine noise that will play through.
You can use the dock connector but you'll need something like the PAC IS75 to get line out and power leads which will allow you to charge.
Audio controls are out though. They won't directly interface to the iPhone/iPod.
