Audio help
Hi,
I have an 01 s2k that had the stock head unit replaced with an in-dash 6 CD Eclipse unit, Eclipse door speakers, and door tweeters installed. There is an Amp in the trunk. In a word, it sounds like poop (like a transistor radio). I believe the driver's tweeter is blown, but otherwise, the speakers seem intact.
The Eclipse unit has a control for a sub and when I use the fade control, all sound disappears, so I assume I can run 2 rear speakers and a sub.
My questions are:
1. Can two small subs be put into the Lucid panels instead of 2 or 3-way speakers? I would then consider s-pod headrest speakers.
2. The tweeters currently outperform the door speakers unless the volume is turned up to a point that is a bit loud. Is this simply a function of poorly matched components?
3. Is a special harness needed to run these various combinations?
4. Can I run all those components off of one Amp?
I am not interested in spending thousands of dollars on components, I simply am looking to enjoy a little jazz in my car. A few years back I owned a used 93 Miata that had door speakers and tweeters, headrest speakers and under seat subs. and it sounded really great to me. As my daily drive I currently have a 98 Volvo c70 coupe that has a fab sounding Dobly pro-logic system that I really enjoy - 13 speakers in all. I purchased the car used and while the system was an upgrade option for a pricey $2,500 new, Volvo really seems to have put together a nice system using Bose components.
Thank you.
