Default Audio Help Needed..

Ok, I'm getting 6.5 boston pros for the doors.. And I was thinking of taking the OEM's and sticking them behind the seats..

Any comments on this Idea??

If it makes a difference I plan on running a 450x4 JL Amp... for the Speakers..

Also.. Another question that I need help with..

I need to buy a head unit but can't figure out which one: Here is what I was thinking of, but I'm still open to other options..

1) Sony MEX-5DI (3rd Choice)
2) Sony MEX-1HD (1st Choice)
3) Harmon Kardon Traffic Pro-R (2nd Choice)
4) Pioneer DEH-P9400MP (4th Choice)

Want a head unit that will produce good sound, and look really good in the vehicle. This will eventually be a show car.. Just not yet,,,
----

Thanks for the help..

as far as head unit goes, i'm partial to ALPINE and KENWOOD. as far as sound quality imo, they are much better than the ones listed. that's just some of my personal experience with the different brand of decks. you definitely cannot go wrong with these two brands.

that is one high powered amp. i think 2 of the 4 channels should be deciated/bridged for a sub (stealth box or wlaurent box) instead of rear speakers. the stock speakers may not last very long from all that power. besides, how can a show car not have a sub? if you run bostons in the front powered by the JL amp, you will have enough volume at speed. you will also have much more clariy than before. in this case, i think it's quality over quantity. more speakers don't necessarily mean better sound. i personally think great speakers up front will be more than enough. putting the stocks in the rear will just ruin the overall quality.

btw, great choice of speakers and amp!

Alpine, Clarion, Eclipse, Kenwood, Pioneer (or Premier) are the nice ones

It looks like you want mp3 support...Don't know about the other brands but the one's comparable to the Pioneer 9400mp are the Clarion DXZ835mp, the Eclipse 3413, and the Pioneer Premier 940mp

Can I guess which sub you're getting?

I also want a HU that has looks as well as sound.. Personally I think that Eclipse and Alpine are rather bland...

I'd say the pioneer has the best sound as far as those you listed, though I have not heard of the HK head unit. Up to you if you like the look of it.

i think the eclipse has the best sound, but it's also the least 'bling-bling' out of all of them (except for maybe the pioneer...). if you want a lotta show, and just a little go, the Sony one is the way to go. I think m777erlin (or whatever it is ) has the Sony one (chrome, color screen, no hd) in his. looks good, but i haven't heard it.

that amp is not really that pretty, of course most good amps aren't that attractive but it sounds like you're willing to trade-off sound quality for looks. so why not go with an amp that's a little flashier? like the Audiobahn Flame amps? chrome and blue lights, or maybe some flush mount ones like the Autotek (chrome) or Visonik (red)? those JL amps are so boring in that basic black

when i think about it some more, the Memphis amps are somewhat attractive. the Zapco's are too in an ugly industrial sort of way...

The Clarion can also be 'un-bling' depending on what color you pick

Having just gotten robbed, I wanted the least flashy so it came down to Clarion and Eclipse for me...other people who don't fear thievery would probably choose otherwise though

i don't see the head as an issue, almost all of them have detachable faces. from the outside with the face detached they all look the same. so the only time people would see which exact unit you have is when their in the car or at meets. if that's the case i think you should pick the best head unit for you. i like eclipse but their definately down on features to alpine and clarion.
