amp will make a huge difference, i'd just find something 2x100, the higher ohms it is at, the better, ideally you want the output ohmage of the amp to match the speakers they are going to be powering, so you can have a better idea of the amount of watts actually powering the speaker, but math can help you there, too

Yeah it really does. The positive is if you do get an amp, it'll save you some money getting a 2 channel one. You will only be powering the two door speakers.
But, then, it all depends on how you approach this: "What can I do right now?" or "Where do I want this to end up, and what can I do right now to move towards that goal?"
