I am not sure Paul if its the camlock they show.either way the S2k window button has to come off and a new one has to be adhesive'd on.

The adhesive that came with my mirror was a liquid with a brush top.. and came packed with the new button you needed.

ATTEMPT:

I tried removing the windshield button using a butane-powered flameless torch. I heated it up little at a time and tried twising the button. Never got hot enough to soften the adhesive before...

BAD NEWS:

After trying to twist a little harder I broke the windshield.

GOOD NEWS:

Even though my insurance company knows I broke it myself trying to do this, they are covering it $0 deductable under my comprehensive insurance plan. I will tell them not to mount the old button so I can install the Gentex mirror.

Thanks, Mike for the heads-up.

I called the shop but they are closed. I'm going to see what they can do for me!

Update-

The mirror came in today, just in time for tomorrow's windshield replacement.

I spoke with the windshield replacement people twice this past week. They think it's coming in with a button, but they promised both times it would be no problem taking care of my needs for the new mirror. (They said often they can choose whether or not the button is supplied but with this car it's not a choice.)

I purchased the new "Chrysler" button that works with the mirror. Just a little wedge of metal, $3.99. That's right, my $330 mirror did not come with button nor adhesive.

As for the electronics part of the install, I've already removed the interior trim across the top and the A-pillars. I piggybacked the harness down along the dome light harness, using mini cable ties, running the wires down the passenger side, under the dash, and behind the radio.

Question #1: Did you find a way to make that brown connector fit behind the top trim, or did you cut off the connectors and patch the wires together?

Question #2: Did you hook up the sensor wire to the back-up lights? Did you find a tap-in anywhere other than at the bulb connector?

Question #3: Did you cut a hole in the firewall grommet for the temperature sensor harness, or did you unravel the electrical tape, send it through, and ravel the tape back up? There is so little hand access there

Question #4: What's your favorite way of tapping into other wires? If you use a tap-in connector, what one is most reliable? What size do I need (as in what is the gage range of automotive wiring)
